DIRAC
In 1928 Paul Dirac merged quantum mechanics with special relativity. His equation allowed negative-energy solutions — interpreted not as nonsense but as a filled "Dirac sea." A hole in that sea behaves like a particle with positive charge: the positron, antimatter's electron mirror.
